It is outright!

At the end of May I saw a sign at the FNB ATM advertising that if you need R100 to get your through, you can simply call and get it. I called to ask for R100 and was basically laughed at due to my credit record... but I did qualify for a Platinum account. I told the guy I did not want a platinum account, just R100. I was assured that there was no additional cost and that my existing bank card was expiring in August so I may as well get the free Platinum card. I told him to go ahead but advised that I only want R100. A few days later when I got the card, I called again and asked if there were any charges and was told that "of course there are additional charges". Loooong story short, they downgraded my account and left me with the Platinum card and took approx R152.22 from my account on the 11th of June. I was assured that they would refund the money within 48 hours. I'm still waiting.

Summary: I asked FNB to help me with R100 for a couple of days, they denied me the funds and R152.22 from my account - so far earning interest on it for 8 days while I'm losing interest on it... and no doubt will be charged for being R152.22 short in my account!
