I am extremely disappointed with ABSA bank. I have been a loyal customer of ABSA for nearly 15 years now. When I now tried to pay some of my beneficiaries I got the following error message "Not identified and verified (er 495) p". Calling customer services, i was told that they can do nothing for me and that I need to go the my nearest ABSA branch to sort out the problem. Well I am an Engineer working in a mining town nearly 200km from the nearest ABSA and with a full days work, how am I going to do this?? In the mean time I have beneficiaries (DSTV, Housing rent, Electricity etc.) to name just a few that needs to be paid. And why do they want me to go to my nearest ABSA bank; so that I can identify myself to them via my ID book so that they can make sure its the right person they have on their systems?? Is this really necessary, after being a loyal customer for how long?? The least ABSA can do is inform us of these types of system changes in advance.
Seriously disappointed and would like some assistance in this matter ASAP.
