I went to Nedbank at Sandton City yesterday and requested bank statements for 6 months for my UK visa application. The lady at the counter was helpful and immediately printed the banking statements and made a copy of my marriage certificate and utility bill. Today, when I did an internet transfer, I noted that I had 26 charges of R11 each for "copy of statement charge" totalling R286. Excessive charging per copy. At no time did the receptionist tell me that I will be charged R11 a copy. Furthermore, the bank statements were printed double side and in small font. I did not receive 26 copies at all. Surely this excessive charging as well as the non-disclosure by Nedbank is contrary to Treating Customer's Fairly as well as the Consumer Protection Act. I have banked with Nedbank since 1996. This is the last straw. I will close my current and investment accounts and open an account with FNB! And my husband will do so as well!
