Applied for a personal loan, was accepted in principal but then refused because they could not find my employers details. My employer is the South African subsidiary of a UK Stock Exchange listed company. Capitec claimed they could not find the details on "their" system. Went on to CIPRO (CIPC) found details in 5 seconds flat. Showed them this info plus holding companies website with published financial data, subsidiaries etc. After 3 visits to the branch, many telephone calls, was told their forensic department did not believe my employer existed, as "they were not in the yellow pages". So that must be their" system" check in the yellow pages!!! They have made me feel like I am trying to somehow them and provide false information. I have been made to feel like a criminal. Stay away from Capitec bank, the service is atrocious, communication more so and the employees seem to lack common sense and/or intelligence. The regional manager was in the branch when I was there, clearly frustrated and she ignored me speaking through her manager.
