Sabc Tv Licence
TOTAL INCOMPETENCE

My son moved to the UK in May 2012. Before he left he e-mailed the SABC to inform them that he would be leaving SA and that he wished to cancel his licence and he had given his TV to his father. He supplied his fathers TV licence number for their records. Early June 2012 an account arrived in the post for the year 2012 - 2013. He forward the original e-mail to them again. They asked for proof of his employment etc in the UK. This was submitted. In 2013 we were continually harassed telephonically by both the SABC and Nu-debt collectors with up to 4 calls a week. Some to our home in SA and many to my son in the UK. Numerous e-mails were sent almost on a monthly basis with copies of my sons letter of employment in the UK and his National Health Insurance letter. Nu-debt responded in Oct 2013 saying that the matter had been handed back to the SABC as it was invalid and they saw no reason to pursue it. Today another account arrived in the post from the SABC. The original amount of R250.00 has now escalated to R765.00. What more must we do to prove to this company that everything has been done according to their requirements? I have resent all documents again tonight.
