We had a few restrictions. 1. I have hay fever. Minimal medication from time to time. This was excluded for 1 year. 2. My son has ADHD. ADHD medication was excluded for 1 year, around R1, 500.00 per month. We were out of South Africa for 12 years, we were both penalized 5% extra for life! Our plan was around R5, 200.00 per month, EXCLUDING 1 and 2. In 2009, my wife got high blood pressure and was put on medication, and taken off again after a year. A month after joining, she was put back on blood pressure medication, of around R200 per month. Today Discovery phones to tell us that they are canceling our medical aid because we failed to disclose the previous condition. The woman, who was the rudest, most arrogant person I have ever had the displeasure of speaking to, insinuated that we and did not disclose everything, and that we were being canceled immediately. I explained that we DID in fact disclose the blood pressure to our advisor. Her response was that Discovery had a contract with us, and that as WE did not disclose the pre-existing condition, we were in breach of contract. What a load of complete and utter nonsense, all over R200 a month! Avoid Discovery like the plague!
