HI,
I have been a customer of capitec bank since late last year. I took out a loan of around 90k with them and when I came short on money, I used the Multi loan service. On the 29th of January 2013 I applied for debt review and was approved days after, I signed an agreement with Octogen and in the agreement were two notices, one for the loan and the other for the multi-loan. When my salary was paid into my account, the multi loan and loan amounts were still deducted, leaving me short of approx. 7600. On my account online the multi loan and loan accounts were removed, and when I enquired about this, capitec claimed that they never received anything to confirm that I was under debt review - only that I applied for it. Eventually I got through to the capitec debt review department and I was asked to forward the agreement and a letter signed by me to stop all debits and refund the amount that was taken, this was meant to happen within three working days, I have not heard anything from capitec. How is it that the bank is allowed to debit from me when legally they're prohibited from doing so due to the conditions of being under debt review AND then take their time to correct the error?
