First a double debit then double grieve to cancel

With AIG Life I had a policy running for cancer and it was debited of my bank account every month. Now times are a bit hard and I wanted to cancel the policy to safe some money. As it happen just before I phoned to cancel the policy I was busy on my Internet banking and noticed that a double debit order has gone off from AIG. I phoned to cancel this policy but also to find out why the double debit. Then I was told that I have to give 30 day notice to cancel and that another debit will go off my account since the next debit date is within the 30 days (this I think is a waste of time since the policy can be setup over the phone and is effective immidiately. So why not the cancelation as well). So I said fine then why not keep the one part of the double debit that went off and leave me alone then. But no now I was bugged about lowering the premium and why cancel since cancer can happen at any time. I dont need to explain myself to anyone. They said they will refund the debit order that went off double, but why bother since they are going to take a another debit order off. This is not accepteable to me since I cancelled the policy why take more money?
