I went to the Braamfontein JD House Building branch today because my mother's deceased estate account was closed due to FICA.The account is less than 6 months but it got closed for RICA requirement. I called the call centre when I got an error at the ATM and the agent told me that I will need to visit the branch with my proof of address and ID book to re-open the account. She told me that there was no address on the account that's why the account was stopped. I went to the branch and I was told I need to bring all the documents that I bought the day I opened the account. She told me when I bought them it was for opening an account and not for FICA, only now it will be for FICA.With my knowledge submitting a proof of address when opening an account that's for FICA requirement. I want to find out what was the reason for me taking all those documents to the branch on the day that I opened the account. This is a very bad service that I am getting at ABSA, why didn't the agent I spoke to at the call centre tell me all this, now I need to waste my time and go back to the branch. I regret opening the account at this bank. There is no consistency in the bank.
