Hello - I phoned Turkish Airline reservation centre and introduced myself as Len Bornman. A couple of options were discussed as I wanted to include Istanbul as part of my trip. A day later I finally phoned to book my ticket with my credit card and was asked for my passport number. When I received the ticket by email I saw my shortened name Len is on the ticket and not my full name Lendert. I was never asked what my full first name is as per my passport but only what my passport number was.
The call centre told me I cant fly with this ticket as they are only allowed a change of 3 characters on a ticket and not 4. I was informed my ticket is now worthless.
How is it possible that such a small error can destroy a european holiday I have saved for for 2 years??
After 8 calls from South Africa to Istanbul customer careline I was told it can take up to 7 days. Why is it not possible to issue my ticket with my correct name???
