Cancellation of Membership

I took out a Holiday access membership in March 2012. I was told that due to my girlfriend and I not being married that we wouldnt be able to take out the membership, however they came back with a trail period of 12 months that we could take. We were also told that we wouldnt need to pay any additional fees which is not true. Since then I have been trying to cancel the membership with no luck by them saying it isnt possible. I called customer care with no luck and therefor stopped my debit order so that I could hear from someone. Finally I received a call and I explained this scenario to him and was told that I need to settle my account before they can do anything, so I did. I then received a mail that my account is paid up and I tried again to cancel, to be told I still owe over R2000 and they wont cancel the membership but now they are threatening to hand me over to their legal team as I am refusing to pay the outstanding fees as this is just turning into one vicious circle. The fact is that what I was sold is not what was agreed upon with the rep at Club Makanos. Therefor I want this membership to be cancelled ASAP but this company is impossible and just taking people for a ride
