How My Android Tablet Disappeared Without A Trace

On Thursday morning checked in at one of the Mango Airline counters, I was asked to present my Identity Document which was in my handbag. I put down my Tablet so i could retrieve my ID, after that I checked in my luggage and walked away forgetting my tablet on the counter. Half an hour later or less whilst waiting to board my flight, I realized that I did not have my tablet on me. I informed one of the Mango Airline staff that I must have left my tablet at the check-in counter, he then permitted me to go and look for it. I went back and it was not there, I informed the gentleman that was working at the same counter and he said he did not see anything neither had anything been reported in the lost and found section. I was highly disappointed because no compassion was shown by the ground staff and nobody also seemed to care, the best solution I was given was file a lost/ report case at the SAPS at O.R Tambo as soon as I landed.
I have opened a case but I have received no support from Mango Airline or Airport security nobody seems to know how or when my tablet disappeared without a trace.
