In 2010 my husband and I was unfortunate enough to be at a DVC marketing session. There we were cornered by a sales man. Among the promises he made, was that we could decide at anytime to sell our points, and DVC would buy them back at (at least) the same price.
Since then, the maintenance fees has increased so much, that it is now impossible for us to make our monthly payments. I called DVC and asked what the process is to cancel my membership. There is a catch. First, I need to settle the loan which was for R18/point. (Which I am happy to do) And then, DVC will only buy back the points at R5/point. So, it will cost me R14 500 just to cancel my membership!! The sales man blatantly!
