In 2012 my mom was tricked into signing a contract with Global Travel with promises such as cheaper airflights. They got her to agree to (what she believed to be) a 10 year contract for which she had to pay R13, 650 and had her sign some documents without the full disclosure of the content. Several months later she became aware of monthly debit orders of R1, 327 on her bankaccount. It turned out they signed her up for a 50 Year deal. Keep in mind that se was already 67 years old at that time - they sold her an product that will run unitl she is 117 year old! On request for cancellation they advised that the membership fees total R45, 498 with panalty clauses on termination. After several attempts to cancel, they offered to reduce the term to 20 years with the fees reduced to R25, 200 with a threat of legal action should she not honour the payments. In my opinion this is a typical example of a widow exploited through harmful business practices. To date she has received NO benefit for the R24, 266 paid as the cheaper airflights promised never materialized. I want the contract to be terminated with no penalties.
