After being a member of GTASA for 4 years without successfully making use of their services I decided to resign my membership on 11 December 2013. I duly informed this esteemed company via email and received acknowledgement that the effective date of termination was 11 January 2014.
Now comes the exciting part as my fees were paid in advance for 2013. The due date of my membership fee is 06 January and, lo and behold, the amount of R1132-48 was deducted via debit order from my account on that date. On requesting reversal of the debit order I eventually received this statement:
"The cancellation date stilpulated in the cancellation letter states that all monies received upto and including the 11 January 2014 shall be retained.
Therefore a refund shall not be processed". (sic).
So, for the sake of 4 working days, I have paid a full year to NOT be a member. What sort of company does this to a pensioner. I have requested some form of compensation but was totally ignored. Other dissatisfied clients have been assisted so why the double standards?
Previously tried to sell contract but no luck. R20k down the drain.
The attitude of this company is arrogant, uncooperative and devious.
