SAA is managed like a government department

I made a flight booking from OR Tambo to Lagos. The initial booking went through without any problems. Then the trouble started: My Visa took longer than anticipated and I had to change the flight date. This is nearly impossible with SAA. First, there is a penalty for changing a flight date... why? Secondly, why can a change penalty not be paid in cash? Only credit card accepted. Here is the knockout arrangement: If you process your change at the airport office, there is another R500-00 admin fee on top of the penalty, but if you go to the Sandton SAA office, the admin fee is R250-00. You may pay the actual flight in cash at a Pick And Pay, but not the change in flight??? Why not???
My change penalty went from R400-00 on Tuesday, to R450-00 on Thursday. I phoned and made the change on Tuesday, then on Wednesday, I was told the operator did not record my change request, hence the extra R50-00 penalty... I choose not to use a credit card. SAA decided to penalize me for this to the point that I have to pay R500-00 admin fee to process a R450-00 penalty... I challenge any person to work with the SAA call center... the level of incompetence is simply amazing.
