Bellville to Johannesburg return on Shosholosa Mayl. We departed from Cape Town on 1/5/2013 and was four hours late on arrival in Johannesburg Park station on 2/5/2013. We travelled without ability to charge our cell phones, and the toilets where in a disgusting state. Upon arrival, no lifts or escalators where working. Luggage had to be carried up the standing escalators with grate difficulty.
On our return trip on 5/5/2013, assistance with luggage was offered at R40.00 per trolley, from the parking area attendants, to transport luggage in to the building. Still no lifts or escalators where running inside the station. Luggage had to be carried down to the platform with great difficulty. ( Both pensioners with grand son) We where running six hours behind schedule, resulting in flat cellphone batteries, the kitchen ran out of food due to the delay, nothing to drink or eat for supper, and unable to let family and friends know of the new arrival time at Bellville Station. Train Staff complained that they are not paid overtime.
I will most certainly not recommend any person to travel on this train at all. This is not a acceptable standard. 10 hrs delay on two trips!!! Wow.
