Trying to get my husband's line reconnected

My husband lost his job and was unable to pay his bill. The line was cut off.

On March 26th, I paid R1000 to Telkom.

I phoned the call centre and was told that as soon as the money reflects, his line would be reconnected. Nothing happened.

A few days later, I phoned again. They could see that the amount, but it would take 7 days for his line to be reconnected. Nothing happened.

A week later, I phoned again. I was told that the agent should send through a request for the line to be reconnected. I was given a ref number, and the agent asked for my cell no. so that she could sms the ref number to me as well. I never received the sms. She also told me that it may be possible that my husband would be issued with a new number, and that it would take 72 hours for reconnection in either case.

We did notice that his phone suddenly said something about the SIM.

I phoned today to follow up. The agent said he would send through a request to his manager, but could not confirm if the other agent had done so. He was not interested in the ref. number. He said there was a queue of lines waiting for reconnection and he could not give me a date for reconnection.

I am furious.
