Promised a Modem Capable of 21Mbps!!!

I recently took out a contract via a MTN service. They contacted me, stating that:
1. That i would receive a modem capable of 21Mbps - I got called back from Nizam (call centre in Durban), he told me that he quoted me the incorrect modem number and that I would receive. The modem I received only connects at 7.2Mbps (My 3G phone is faster than its wi-fi.)
I contacted the call centre; the reply i got is just that if it was made by the call centre "they" need to sort it out. They suggest that I must now pay cancellation fees of R2300 (ref: 98820826, 9 April 2013) my query was logged to MTN on the 30 March 2013 REQ1949741 (to which I still have not received any feedback). What I am getting here is just finger pointing etc, the contract I signed was from MTN SP and NOT the call centre, if they, MTN give people the right to contact people and sell on their (MTN's) behalf. But. I was deceived and given the wrong info, now that I complain I am told to pay cancellation. Breach of contract goes both ways, by saying it is the call centre issue is not valid, as they represent MTN and the "vicarious liability" (Respondeat superior) to the people they appoint as their agents.
