Recently switched to Afrihost, and was surprised to find that they offered a 1g free allocation per month. Though I wasn't intending on taking a free option, I thought that this would b a great way to effectively test drive the service.
What an absolute sham! Over the last 3 years with Telkom we averaged 2-4 gigs a month - yet somehow we were now using 1 gig a day? Spoke to the designated clown at customer services and explained that; a) We use Skype on our iPad with it's own simcard and separate bandwidth, b) We had not downloaded 1 thing in the 2 days - ie no movie files/large graphical files. His response was to revert to script and tell me that 'as we are using Skype' that's the reason'.
It's quite clear - the 1g offer is a. End of story. What really annoys me more than anything is that I never wanted anything free, however took the option because it was there. We have wasted time and effort and this really annoys me.
I never thought it possible, however I might revert to Telkom. This pains me to even write it - whatever choice we do make, Afrihost are gone, and I'd suggest you head my warning.
