Unsuscribe MTN Play Sangoma

I accidently subscribed to Mtn play sangoma.
I am a 76 year old lady with limited knowledge when it comes to technology.
After trying to unsubscribe from this sms I keep receiving in some African language - I think Zulu.
I sent several unsubscribe messages with "stop" only to receive messages back saying incorrect code.
I spent over an hour trying to rectify the subscription by calling the call centre. First person told me they would unsubscribe me and send amessage to my phone. I waited almost half an hour and called again. This time I was told to sms stop to 083123686. This did not work and after my second attempt I called again to be told something completely different and that they would unsubscribe me from the service but it will only be done in 24-72 hours.

Why is there no simple, logical way to unsubscribe? I feel as though I have been subject to some money making. I am a pensioner on state pension so really don't have much. All the messages sent trying to get rid of this service I accidently applied for somehow.
It has certainly left a bad taste in my mouth. I accepted no terms or conditions. If it so easy to rob a pensioner who else is subject to this?
