Neotel
UNABLE TO TERMINATE CONTRACT

My contract with Neotel expired on 2011/09/14. Roughly a month prior to the expiration an agent from Neotel phoned me to ask whether I would like to have my contract extended upon which my answer was NO. I also asked whether I was expected to return the hand set and was informed that this was not required.
It has recently come to my attention that my bank account has been debited by an amount of roughly R319 per month despite the above having taken place.

I would like to remind you that the new consumer protection act frowns upon automatic renewals of contracts.

I have confirmed with your call centre on the 29th of November 2012 (call reference 28674942, operator name: Kgomotso Matjiu) that the phone has not been used since the expiry date of the contract mentioned above.

So to summarise:
1. The contract expired, I responded to your agent that I would like the contract to stop upon the expiry of the original agreement
2. Despite the above I have been paying R318 (roughly) per month and
3. The phone or any neotel service has not been used since expiry of the contract.

I want to point out that Steven Machaka has been very helpful in trying to sort this out.
