On 18 October 2012 I visited MTN Cape Road, Port Elizabeth and dealt with a consultant by the name of Riley Reddy("Reddy"). My Cell C contract was due to expire at the end of November and I was looking at the different options for a Samsung Galaxy S3 at the different service providers.
I informed Reddy that I am not worried about the minutes that I receive as I have a business contract which I can use for calls; I indicated that I mainly want to use the phone for data. My question to him was whether or not I can convert the monthly minutes that I will receive to data. Pillay indicated that I can convert the minutes received on a monthly basis to data.
On Saturday 20 October2012 the afternoon I attempted to convert my minutes to data. I received a message that I did not have sufficient funds to convert data. Although I had more than R 100 worth of minutes.
I immediately contacted MTN customer care on 808.Here I was informed that it is not possible to convert the monthly minutes received to data, and that I have to put extra airtime on the phone in order to do so.
