During the end of 2013 I phoned Cell C to enquire when will I be due for an upgrade. They advised me that I can upgrade in January 2014. In January 2014 I phoned to upgrade to a Samsung S4 from my current Blackberry phone. I took out the 400 package which includes 400 free minutes, 400 sms's and 1Gig data for /- R650 pm. 29 January 2014 a lady from Cell C contacted me and asked if I am aware that I owe R3500 for internet usage. I told her that it cannot be as I took upgraded to a new contract and that it is a mistake. She advised that I must phone 084 140 to find out more and that she is now going to block my phone so that no phone calls, sms etc can be done. I can only receive calls from outside. She further advised that from next month my usage are going to be capped on R50. She further said that my old contract only expires in April 2014 and that all usage of the phone will be for my own account!!! Nobody told me this. Why would I do that to myself if on my old Blackberry contract I could get data for free! This is not acceptable as I was not properly advised. I definately cannot afford R3500. Why in the first place did someone phone me. Obviously they knew somethings wrong!
