8 month late bill, threatening to close line

I had made an insurance claim with Autopage on April 2013 the insurance was successful and I was informed the excess would be billed April. Seemingly the amount wasn't included with my debit order in that month which was what I was informed would happen. No communication from Autopage was received regarding this matter. Autopage debited R995 only on December 2013 when on my cheque account I left only the monthly amount debited which is R245 meaning ABSA had to pay the difference since I do not have an overdraft. ABSA advised I reverse the debit in order for them to receive that difference back, which I did. I just called Autopage and the a lady by the name of Ayanda in the accounts section headoffice tells me even though someone from their insurance department put in the claim late I should have kept that R700 amount in my account for the day they decide to debit even though the debit we agreed on was 25.04.13 which wasn't debited without any given reason and no new debit date was given by Autopage. I was just supposed to spare money for Autopage for the past 8 months. Now i'm informed my phone line will be closed until i pay, WHY IS THAT WHEN THE FAULT/DELAY WAS FROM THEIR SIDE?
