I woke up this morning to use the internet to do some online gaming (I updated the game overnight; since ISP's shape their lines during the day, I do not use my line during office hours) to find that I was throttled for using too much data for the month. This is crazy when my adsl usage for this month is shown below:
ADSL Usage - (January, 2014)
You have used 1.02 GB so far this month.
Last Session: 02 January, 2014, 02:01:00
Connection status: Throttled
I understand that throttling does occur at roughly 100gb per 1mb/s line speed from a recent post ( [URL Removed] )on do broadband (I cannot confirm this as mweb does not tell you what they consider to be acceptable in their AUP( [URL Removed] ) and phoning in did not get any results as the technicians point blank refuse to tell you what the limit is even after asking their manager). I was surprised that telkom was open when I asked about their throttle limits and they are also at similar throttle limits to mweb. Due to their openness and honesty I am considering swapping to them.
