Telkom SoftCap ripoff

We received our Telkom account. We have ADSL 20 GB 20 GB promotion. On 31-10-2013 at 9:30 the morning we had 7.94GB left and also stated that 80% of our cap had been used. The evening at 20:48 received a mail to state that 100% of cap had been used. I receive an account charging me for 29907MB @ R999.19. I would like to know how you calculate this amount??? and how is it possible to have used this amount of data in 3 hours and 12 minutes?? I have sent an email to query this account and to date have received no feedback. I understand that soft cap should come into effect once the cap has been reached and the speed would then be slower etc. Where did i opt to pay for over usage? Before if I reached my cap I didn't have service and thats exactly what I want - I don't want any surprise accounts. Please look into this matter asap...
