On Thursday in the storm my car broke down, I was on my way to fetch my 6 year old son from school. To me this is an emergency, I was on the side of the road 30 minutes before school closed and I had to urgently arrange for a family member or friend to go fetch him. I had full signal but could not phone out. I tried numerous times. I was then helped by a security company who let me use their cell phones to call out. Yesterday the same thing happened with the network. My maid was trying to get hold of me because someone was trying to get into the house. I got a missed call from her, I had three bars of signal on my phone and couldn't phone out. I had to drive 1km continuously trying to phone out while driving before the call finally went through. If there were no signal I would understand, but both these instances I have had adequate signal and cell c has let me down.
It has happened more than these two times but these two emergencies have opened my eyes, we aren't getting the same service as the other networks for less, we are getting a fraction of the service for a fraction of the price. Low fees for an unreliable network that you can't use when you need it.
