Can't cancel contract

I went to a telkom branch in Cape gate weeks ago to cancel my contract, but was told I can't cancel without my ID book, even thou I have a drivers lic. I now need to keeping paying the higher price for plan that I'm on until I can get my id book. I my opinion they make it this way so milk as much as they can. Well I wanted to upgrade, but now I want to cancel all my 8ta sims. When I was with their competition all I need to do is phone the call centre to cancel, which was great service.
