Contract expired but still get billed

I have been trying to get Virgin Mobile to respond to my emails as well as my numerous phone calls to get my cancel my contract which, expired some time ago without any success. I do not even use the phone. No wonder this country is in such a horrible state. Please can Virgin Mobile respond a.s.a.p.
