Cant port my number to other Service Provide

I have enquired twice with CellC to have them provide me a CellC number to continue my contract on, however I need to port the current number back to MTN for other business purposes. I'm told the current number will be deactivated and will not be able to use it until the contract expires. This I find ridiculous, as they give me another number to continue my contract but they will deactivate my current number off the network so that no-one can use it. Is this how they secure their 'claimed' 3 million subscribers? Holding mobile numbers not to be used on any other networks, this is ridiculous. I regret having chosen CellC, this is my 3rd major complaint and it's only been 6 months on their network.
