Insurance? What is the point?

I pay for insurance every month for my phone (or part there of, just the small amount) I slightly cracked my phone, took it to an autopage brach to send in for repairs. 14 days later I get an sms quote, I phone autopage and let them know to go ahead and use the insurance I have and I'll pay in the difference. The customer service person seem weird, so phoned a day later and they have no record of what was asked. Spoke to Sandra who was good and she said she has done it all I must phoen insurance to confirm I'll pay in the difference. Insurance informs me they have rejected it and they will pay the R1500 and I must pay in the difference for a new phone? R7139 vs payign in the difference of R679 for a repair. They already rejected it and sent it back to the autopage shop without contacting me at all. So now I have to wait for it to get back there, then be sent back. How long will that take? Another 3 or 4 weeks? I have been a customer for 13 years, I am the most dissatisfied I have ever been and it makes me wonder if I should stay with them?
