UNISA have partnered with Telkom and Cell C to offer internet data packages to students at reduced rates.
The offer with Telkom states that for R600, the student will receive 3GB daytime data and 3GB night surfer data, every month for six months (the Cell C package offers 3GB anytime data per month for six months also for R600)
This Telkom offer is explicitly stated on their web page [URL Removed]
and also on the UNISA web site.
I took up the Telkom deal which was processed by the Stadium on Main Telkom branch. I received the sim card and purchased the required modem/dongle. However, after a very short period of light internet browsing, I was redirected to a web page telling me my data had been used up. I called the Telkom help line, only to be told that my sim was loaded with a 1GB daytime data and 3GB night surfer data package. I returned to the Telkom branch to get this error fixed and a call was logged in their system. A few days later I received a call from Telkom telling me that they have reviewed the case and that the deal is only for 1GB daytime data and 3GB nightsurfer data.
This is blatantly false advertising, some might even say.
