Change in billing?

I have been on this contract since Sept 2012 when I upgraded to a Samsung Galaxy S3. My invoice amount used to be the standard R399, where I got 75MB free every month (which is nothing for a smart phone). Since June 2013 I have received bills of between R500 and R1 100. Firstly I think it is unfair to the customer to be charged for itemised biling when you want to query your bill. Secondly your call centre staff and billing department staff are not competent enough to assist you when you query your itemised bill. It became evident that the problem was with my packet switch data calls and that one specific Samsung application was responsible for this issue. I have since disabled this application on my phone and only go on the internet and social networks at home when I'm on the wi-fi. I also rarely make calls on my phone. I installed a data tracker on my phone and I understand once I've used up my data, it starts using what's left of the R175 . So this month should have been a normal billing month and still I'm paying more than R399! Did MTN change their billing? Why did I have about 8 normal billing months and then everything changed?
