I contacted Telkom by phone to ask which docs are needed to do a sim swap and I was told that either an ID or drivers licence would be needed and the faulty sim. I went to the Telkom shop in The Bridge, Port Elizabeth with my driver's license and the faulty sim.

After waiting in line I was informed that I need proof of address as well with my driver's license. I left, went home to fetch the proof of address which took approx. 30 min, and returned to the Telkom shop. I waited in line again only to be told by a different person that I must have my ID document. I told her that I phoned and specifically asked which documents are needed and was told my driver's license would suffice and the faulty sim, I was then told that I need my proof of address and now I am being told by a different person that I need my ID document and that the drivers license is not acceptable. I did not get an apology just a snotty, well if you do not have the ID you cannot be helped, I understand the correct docs are needed, but at least give the correct info first time and apologise if you make a mistake.

It is my second bad experience at same Telkom shop so clearly the staff there need training.
