In Oct 2012 my bank picked up internet on my account. My cell number had been used. I went to MTN on The Bridge, Greenacres, PE to cancel my telephone number. They found out my sim had been swopped elsewhere in the country the previous afternoon. They admitted it was an illegal swop. Despite supplying copies of all police reports, affidavits etc, we were told we could only cancel the number (pay as you go contract) in Oct 2013! Exhausted from a day at the bank, police stations, queues, we just accepted this and decided to pay the monthly fee of R236 (R118 P.m out of my account, another R118 p.m out of my husband's account, but that is another MTN story for another day!).
The assistant had written 21 Oct 2013 at the top of the invoice we had presented, stating we just had to come in to the branch on 21 Oct (one year later!!) and the contract would be cancelled.

My husband has just returned from MTN. We now have to give one month's notice in order to cancel!!!

Enough already, MTN!!! /-R2 800 later and still we cannot cancel this contract!! Their mistake, we pay!
