In April 2013 I travelled overseas, and activated sms roaming on my main number 073 232 7857. I have a number of additional contracts with MTN, one of which is the number 081 046 5367, Samsung Galaxy S3. Whilst overseas, I was not using this phone but had it in my handbag the whole time. I realised it was missing when I landed in King Shaka Airport on Sunday 21 April 2013. I immediately went to MTN and asked where the police were so I could have the phone blacklisted. I was told to rather do the whole thing in Kokstad where I reside. I returned to Kokstad on Tuesday, 23 April and went to report this at MTN. Noyi, from MTN Kokstad told me that I should go to the police to get a case number, and must be sure to report the incident within 2 weeks in order for my insurance (24 Hour Mobility) to pay out. I went to the police station for the affidavit and case number, and on one incident they were off-line. On another incident they were out of affidavit forms. When I eventually got the case number (within the 2 weeks that Noyi advised), MTN blacklisted the phone. The insurance, 24 Hour Mobility refused to pay out and am still paying for the phone even though the insurance cancelled.
