Good Day,

I went to apply for a Telkom Pre-Paid line on the 7th of October 2013. I was advised that there is an outstanding Debt of R1326.69 on my name which has been outstanding since 1998. Now given that this is the first I have heard of this debt, I was advised to contact the accounts department from within the branch. I spoke to a Eunice on your 10210 number. I advised Eunice that the account has prescribed, to which she responded and advised me that the debt will not prescribe, and that they will not issue me a prepaid line until the outstanding amount is paid in full. Further she advised that Telkom is exempt from the Prescription Act due to an agreement between Telkom and ICASA. Now I am in the legal industry, and I cannot even begin to tell you how upset I was that these be told to customers to force them to pay a prescribed account, never mind the fact the deceit and maliciousness behind such a statement. I hereby request that I be contacted in this regard to allow me to put this matter to bed so that I can apply for the prepaid line.
