I began the battle to cancel my 8ta contract back in May 2013. After being given the runaround by 8ta staff on what exactly to do, I eventually got the magic words: "Your contract with Telkom was cancelled on the 17-08-2013". I thought this was the end of my trouble, but I just found out I was wrong! I got a charge, dated 1st Oct, for R664.96. Two things are puzzling about this: 1) My contract has been cancelled for over a month. 2) The contract was for R299/month, and I couldn't have been over my data limits because I've been out of the country for the last two months!
Unless this is refunded ASAP I will be filing a complaint with ICASA, and then proceeding with legal action, and I urge everyone else having similar trouble to do the same. I demand a complaint reference number (which was refused to me despite multiple email requests) and I demand an explanation as to the amount debited, since I cannot have used any data. You can contact me by email since I am out of the country.
