I've been on Cell C since the inception of the 99c call rate. I joined cell c purely because of their superior pricing to other networks, however, coming from MTN, I have had endless problems with the Cell C network:
1) The network coverage is extremely limited - as soon as you go out of the urban areas, I almost always have to roam on Vodacom's network - this comes with EDGE data which is extremely slow.
2) As you driving along, if you are on a call, the call will definitely cut as you pass between base stations. This happens together with a drop in data connectivity. It does not seem possible to achieve a successful handshake between base stations on cell c
3) If you are on a call and another call comes in, it will go straight to voice mail - there is no such thing as call waiting
4) The data connection, wherever you are, is extremely slow and unreliable, even if it shows a HSDPA connection
All the above are serious usability issues. It does not matter if you have the best pricing if you can't use the network when you need it. Despite the above, Cell C continues to advertise regarding the "coverage" and advanced network" which they have.
