On Maternity Leave

I'm on Maternity Leave and my only income is my UIF benefit that isn't very much. I contacted Altech to inform them of my situation and that I'm not able to honour the debit order that was going out but will make payment as soon as my husband got paid. As promised as soon as I had the money, I did an electronic transfer for the amount owing. I received an SMS yesterday requesting payment of R694.49 immediately to avoid the reconnection fee of R49. I then received a call today requesting payment. I informed her that as I'm on maternity leave, I'm not able to make payment immediately and I had informed the accounts department of this at the end of last month! Phone was disconnected and hour r so later! No warning!
Firstly, I was never informed that my account has been put on a cash payment option.
Secondly, I was not made aware that Cash clients had to make payments on receipt of an SMS from Altech. I was not given an invoice let alone a call notifying me.
Thirdly, I called the accounts department at the end of August to explain my problem.
I'm on Maternity leave and instead of enjoying my baby, I'm feeling harassed by them & now i have to deal without a working phone! Its stress ful
