I bought a Nokia Asha 201 from Pep Stores in Welkom. It began giving me problems after the first few days. I took it to Vodacom to ask their advice - would it be a simple problem to fix or a serious issue? I told the lady at Vodacom that if it was a serious issue I want it to be replaced!! She insisted I can take it to Nokia's Cell clinic and a technician can perform a software upgrade and that would solve my problem. I did that - and after not having my phone for two days it STILL did not work. I could still not get onto facebook, play games or go onto the internet without it saying "application error" or freezing. Today, I was not able to do ANYTHING with my phone!!!
I then took it into Pep asking them to replace the phone (as according to the Consumer Protection Act I've up to 6 months to bring in a faulty phone and then I, the customer, can decide if I want it replaced, repaired or to be refunded). They refused to do this, saying it is not their policy or yours (Vodacom's) - even though they and you are not in line with what the LAW states!!!
It is a brand new phone - I shouldn't have to accept "repair" work and have a 2nd hand phone in the end!!
This is unacceptable!!!
