Virgin Mobile South Africa
Cancellations stress or will they get it right

My contract expires on 16 Oct 13. I was told on Monday that I must give 30 days written notice to cancel my contract. From Monday 2 Sept up to today, I have phoned 8 times holding from 12-22 minutes at a time trying to get hold of a human being. I have also send 3 emails on their website requesting someone to phone me, with no success. Then finally today it happened that I get through to a person named Earl Strydom who informed me that I must cancel telephonically and they also cannot send me an e-mail or SMS to confirm my cancellation. As per the Consumer Act Virgin Mobile was supposed to give me notice that my contract will expire within 40-80 business days. I of course did not get such a notice. As per many complaints on this site, people were charged for months after their notice date. So this notice on Hello Peter is my proof that I have spoken to Earl today to cancel. This is also a warning to Virgin mobile to get it right the first time. I expect my very last statement to be on 1 November and be done with this pathetic company. If you do not get it right I will contact the Natonal Consumer Tribunal for action.
