Impossible to change finished contract to prepaid

Hi

About two months ago when my contract was due for upgrade I went to the Vodacom service centre in gateway. I was told that on the last day of my contract I could go in and id get changed to prepaid on that day.
so I went to vodashop craighall yesterday to get changed to prepaid and I was told I need to call 0821958. I have tried numerous times and cannot get through to anyone. My Contract is finished and I want to go prepaid!!!
