Cellphone Battery replacement

I bought a Samsung Galaxy S3 about 3 months ago and the charger started giving me problems, it take about 7-8 hours (if not longer) to charge the battery 100%.
I phoned the call centre about three times to complain and I told them the charger is giving me problems. One operator said I could get a replacement because its covered by the warranty and the other said its not covered by warranty?
In the end, I'm sitting with a cellphone that cannot charge. Please help me as I cannot use my phone and its only been 3 months, it would be unfair if I had to buy a new charger knowing its a brand new cellphone.
