I recently signed a contract with Cell C for a 2GB per month HSPA USB modem. I decided on Cell C because Vodacom does not cover the area where I stay, which I think is pathetic in a major residential area. However Cell C isn't any better.
The problem is there is literally no HSPA reception in Royal Ascot, Milnerton where I stay. The coverage map shows there is reception, but this is a lie. I first thought the signal was blocked by the apartment above me (I live on the ground floor) but it doesn't get better when I stand outside.
The modem is never able to connect and when it does I only get EDGE connection which is so slow. It took me almost an hour the other day to download one song of 4MB. Average download speed was 6kB per second. My parents' dail-up connection ten years ago had faster download speeds. Sometime the connection just disconnects by itself. I end up giving up and just turning the PC off completely.
Please do someting about it, because Cell C can take back this piece of rubbish if this is the service they produce.
