Vodacom keeps on charging after porting numbe

Ported my number from VODACOM to MTN on 27 April 2013 not realising my contract with VODACOM ended at the end of May 2013. When I called VODACOM in May they advised me that my contract only ended at the end of May and thus I was liable till the end of May, which I acknowledged. I was given a "pseudo" number for purposes of billing for the balance of my contract.

However, I was then charged for the month of June. Upon querying this on 1 July 2013, I was advised that despite my contract expiring and my number having been ported out, it is policy that I still continue to be billed until I give a formal cancellation notice for my "pseudo" number and contract, despite never actually receiving any airtime or services from VODACOM. Whats worse is that my cancellation will only be effective come 31 July 2013. This means that I will be billed for the month of June and July for a service I never actually received.

This policy is unfair to customers and & is contrary to the Consumer Protection Act. If one ports their number and the contract expires why then would VODACOM still place that person on a month to month contract using the "pseudo" number & require the customer to cancel.
