ADSL line constantly dropping connection

After numerous faults being logged with Telkom we are still experiencing connectivity problems on our ADSL line. At first we were told to purchase a new modem (which we did) and still experienced the same issue. Then we were told to use the ADSL POTS filters, which we were already using.

Eventually a technician phoned and said there is a metallic noise on the line, which is indicative of a line problem. To this day I am not aware of any technician actually replacing the line from our house to the local exchange.

I logged yet another fault (online this time) and was phoned by the call centre who promised that the call will be escalated to an operations manager. This manager was supposed to get back to me within two hours, but did not do so.

This level of service is extremely frustrating considering I have to pay for the services, whether they are in working order or not. If the lines within my area need to be upgraded or they are unable to do so they should be honest about it and let me know that is the case. At least then I can switch to another provider and not continue wasting my money.
