I am horrified to find that this is actually not a isolated event but this company, Opera Interactive, are billing me R6.15 everyday via my Cell C account for something that I have no idea about! They have racked up at least R300 - R500 on my cell phone account but the worst part is that Cell C have granted them access to debit my account!!!
I called Cell C who told me the reason that I had used up all my airtime by the 7th of the month was due to Opera Interactive billing me on a daily basis. How is this possible!? When I asked them to cancel this subscription they told me they did not have access to cancel the subscription - but they granted this billing without my consent!
Cell C - I have seen many complaints about this. Why has this been allowed to continue!? Why has nothing been done to protect your clients!?
I was told by a Cell C consultant that if I visit a website on my phone administered by or have some connection to Opera Interactive, they can gain access to my phone number and debit money from my account without my consent! Not only that, most people think its dodgy sites like porn or chat sites, but I discovered it is even linked to a news24 app!!! Disgusting!!!
