I went to MTN WorldWear to upgrade and was told I need to do a sim swap. I paid R136 and was advised that it would be working within 24 hours (at the most). It was not working by Sunday, so I went to MTN Sandton and they said it was not done. They suggested that I do another swap (yes, throw away another R136), or go to WorldWear. I then phoned WorldWear and they said it's a "MTN" issue and I need to wait until Tuesday morning.
Tuesday morning I phone again and get told it's STILL a MTN issue, I must please be patient. Wednesday morning I phone MTN "customer care" (use the term "care" losely) and they say they have no record, I must contact the branch. I asked them to phone the branch and sort it out as I was getting no joy to which they replied "this is a call centre, we take calls, we do not make them".
So where does that leave me then? A new phone (or paper weight) for which I am being charged, an untraceable sim card (for which I paid R136) and a huge Corp Comp (MTN) blaming one another as nobody there seems competent enough to sort this out. What does one do in this situation?
